The Kidnapping of the Bride
A Ukrainian tradition which involves the serving of traditional bread called “Korovai” is served instead of the wedding cake. The bread is decorated with symbols that symbolize the everlasting union of the couple being married. Another tradition, which occurs at the reception, involves the kidnapping of the bride by her friends which symbolizes the invasions their country has suffered.
