Find the Bride
A Turkish wedding ceremony can last several days but traditionally it lasted for 40 days and 40 nights. In the lead-up to the wedding the bride is hidden by her friends and the groom’s relatives are expected to find her. The girl’s friends are paid small cash gifts in return for information about the bride’s whereabouts. While this is happening the elderly of both families put together a list of goods they’ll buy for the newly married couple.
