Saluting heaven, earth and Buddha

On the day of the wedding, the groom’s house is refurbished with bowels painted with eight auspicious emblems along with a white woolen rug, which is laid to welcome guests. The bride rides to the groom’s house upon a white horse, wearing a white gown. She’s escorted by her uncle and her groom’s uncle, the groom’s uncle rides ahead to announce her arrival. On arrival the bride dismounts the horse, stepping precisely in the middle of the white mat, on which an emblem of grains is formed. During the ceremony the bride serves milk and tea and she flicks a fingertip of tea above her head which salutes heaven, earth and Buddha.
