Break the Champagne Glass
Russian’s exchange wedding vows at a civil ceremony and not in a church as church weddings are not classified as official. All the action occurs at the reception. A tradition bringing good luck to the newlyweds is the breaking of the champagne glasses. Once the reception has begun a relative will toast the crowd and everyone will drop their glasses, if all the glasses break it should bring good luck to the couple.
